USE OF AGARWOOD MINERAL OIL

Agarwood mineral oil is used in various ways, including traditional medicine, art and artefacts, artefacts essential oil.  Agarwood mineral oil burned to produce a fragrant odour since time immemorial by the Chinese, Arab, India, Japan and Korea where it is widely used in festivals, customs and religion.  Agarwood mineral oil is used as perfume ingredients in the perfumery and cosmetic industries.  For example, oil “Attar”, which is water based perfume containing agarwood mineral oil extract.  The perfumes are widely used by various religions.

 

Agarwood as religious properties

For centuries Agarwood chips are used as incense in religious ceremonies by Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims. It may also be carved into praying materials such as sculptures, beads and boxes.
 

Agarwood as theraupetic perfumes

Agarwood mineral oil usage has been acknowledged for centuries and even recorded in the Old Testament of the Bible. It is used intensively by the Middle Eastern and French perfumers; it is a tiny but essential component of some high class perfumes such as Zeenat and Amourage.

Agarwood as traditional Medicine
In Pakistan and India oud is used in traditional medicine, both the oil and the incense from the wood. Inhaling the smoke from the incense is said to cure respiratory ailments and coughs and colds, as well as stopping heart palpitations. It promotes a feeling of well-being and stimulates the spirit, and is also used as an aid to meditation. The oil when mixed with other ingredients is said to help rheumatism, and relieve pain, and is sometimes used to help in childbirth. The inhalation of the smoke is also reputed to be of benefit at these times.

 

Agarwood as aromatic food ingredient

Agarwood mineral oil is aphrodisiac, thus often used as a cleansing agent of the body organs and boost one’s energy.

 

Agarwood as medicinal products

The diaphoretic property of the agarwood mineral oil will make one sweat and assist in detoxification process. Agarwood mineral oil is used as a sedative in oriental medicine. Agarwood has been recorded in ancient bibles such as Sahih Muslim from 8th century and in the Ayurvedic medicinal text Susruta Samhita. Agarwood mineral oil is used in Ayurvedic, Tibetan, and East Asian medical pratices. Traditional Chinese medicine uses Agarwood mineral oil as a treatment for cirrhosis of the liver as well as a director or focuser for other medicines.
